Setting Up Browser Notifications

Our platform offers notifications for new messages and conversations. These are delivered via your browser and will have to be proactively enabled/allowed by you. In this article, we will provide guidance on how to enable notifications for each browser.

Textel Platform Setting

The first step you need to take is to go to your My Profile page within the platform under the Additional Settings section and toggle ON the Browser Notifications. Depending on the browser and its settings, this may be the only step you need to take. However, some browsers and settings are more strict and require additional steps.

Chrome

Google Chrome is one of the most widely used browsers. If you have already enabled your notifications using the toggle show above, and you are still not receiving notifications, you can take these steps to enable them specifically for Chrome.

Step 1 for Chrome:

Click on the lock icon next to our platform's web address in the address bar.

Step 2 for Chrome (If Needed):

If that doesn't work, you may need to go into your Settings and adjust it. Click on the vertical ellipsis icon on the top right of your Chrome browser to open up the menu. Then click on the Settings link.

Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Site Settings, then scroll down to Notifications in the pop-up window that appears.

Within this section you can review if our site app.textel.net is allowed to send notifications. If you do not see app.textel.net in your list, you can add our website as one that is allowed to send notifications. When adding, you will be presented with a number of options, most of which are great by default, but there are two that I would pay specific attention to, Notifications and Sounds.

Firefox

If you have Firefox has a very similar approach to Chrome for managing notifications.

Step 1 Firefox:

Click on the lock icon next to our platform's web address in the address bar. This will pull up a window showing a link to the Connection secure information that you will need to click.

Once you click that link it will provide more detailed information as well as another link for More Information. Click that link to open a window with more options.

This will open up a Page Info panel with a number of options. You will need to click on the Permissions section at the top and then locate the "Send notifications" setting in the menu. Make sure to set that to "Allow".

Safari

To change how website notifications appear and are allowed:

Step 1 Safari:

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Notifications & Focus.
  2. Select our website on the left, then change the website alert style and other settings on the right.
    1. You will want this setting to be set to Allow for notifications.

Microsoft Edge

Step 1 Edge:

Click on the lock icon next to our platform's web address in the address bar. This will pull up a menu where you will want to click on the "Permissions for this site" link.

This will open up a new window to go to the settings for our page app.textel.net. Look for the Notifications setting in the list. Make sure it is set to "Allow".
